A rather modest sounding instrument by Didiwarr and his mother Djul’djul’ Gurruwiwi.
Because of the backpressure being medium, this yiḏaki enables you to really ‘push and pull’.
The toot is a bit higher than the fundamental but this is normal for alot of traditional instruments, where the horn note is used for signalling.
The painting, by Djul’djul’ Gurruwiwi, depicts Wititj the ancesteral Rainbow Serpent.

A great stick for those who like that typical Arnhemland sound.

I remember Didiwarr when he walked in, at community based art centre Buku Larrŋgay Mulka, with his first commercially made instrument together with his father, the late B*rrŋ*p*rrŋ* Wunuŋmurra.
I bought it straight away.
It is good to see Didiwarr stepped up and continues making instruments of the highest cultural integrity, like his famous father.
